On Jorvi Hospital’s Maternity Ward N6B, we treat women who have given birth and their newborns. We provide individual guidance on caring for the baby, breastfeeding, and on recovering from childbirth.
On the maternity ward, you can recover from childbirth and take some time to get to know your new family member. We will plan your treatment individually. We provide postnatal guidance in caring for a baby and breastfeeding, encouraging self-sufficiency. We are committed to the Baby-Friendly Initiative of WHO and UNICEF.
Our skilled, multi-professional staff is here for you. We closely monitor the infant’s health and the mother’s recovery. We also have the Baby Journey digital care pathway in use. It provides answers to frequently asked questions.
The maternity wards in Espoo are located in Espoo Hospital and Jorvi Hospital. In Espoo Hospital, all patient rooms are family rooms. In our family rooms, you can bring your spouse or other support person to stay with you for the duration of your hospital stay. In a family room, both the person who has given birth and the support person will be invoiced for the daily hospital fee for the treatment days.
In addition to family rooms, Jorvi Hospital has a three-person room. Where possible, we aim to provide a family room for those who would prefer one. In a room for several people, we assign beds for those who can be quickly discharged and those who have previously given birth.
Postnatal Appointments
At Postnatal Appointments, we provide care and guidance to families of newborns after discharge from the hospital. If your baby needs a follow-up visit within the first two weeks, we will schedule an appointment either at Postnatal Appointments or with a midwife who makes house calls.
There are appointment clinics in both Jorvi Hospital and Espoo Hospital. When an appointment is made for you at the hospital, you will be notified of the building in which the appointment is booked. If you have any questions after you have been discharged, please call the maternity ward that discharged you.
