On Jorvi Hospital’s neonatal ward, we treat premature babies and infants.
A baby may need treatment at our ward due to problems in their infancy, such as premature birth, breathing difficulties, low blood sugar level, infections, jaundice, seizures, complications during birth, or problems due to the mother’s condition. The stay on our ward varies from a few hours to months.
Parents' participation in the baby’s care is important. We guide and encourage you in breastfeeding and in caring for your baby. The mother can breastfeed the baby as soon as the baby's condition permits it. If the ward's bed occupancy situation allows it, a parent may spend the night with the baby.
Newborns come to our care from Jorvi Hospital's maternity and labor ward, the Women's Hospital maternity wards and neonatal intensive care unit, and the New Children's Hospital.
Please do not come to the hospital if you have a contagious disease (such as an intestinal infection or a respiratory infection). Our ward personnel will provide further information if necessary.
