Below we have compiled Frequently Asked Questions for the Neurosurgery Outpatient Clinic.
Issues concerning referrals
All neurosurgical treatment in the HUS region is centralized at our clinic. In addition, we are responsible for patients requiring neurosurgical treatment in the Kymenlaakso, South Karelia and Päijät-Häme wellbeing services counties. You need a physician’s referral for examination and treatment at our clinic.
A referral is made by a physician at their own discretion, for example, at a health center, occupational health care service provider, or a private medical clinic. Services are available by appointment only.
By signing in to the Maisa Portal, you can view the status of your referral on the Referrals tab. The referral response will also be sent to you by letter or to Maisa.
You will be notified of the first visit via text message and an appointment letter. Please note that receiving an appointment is affected by: the urgency determined by the neurosurgeon who evaluated the referral and the current waiting times.
You should contact your referring physician, who may, at their discretion, make an urgent referral to our unit or provide you with other further treatment instructions if necessary.
You can view the examinations ordered for you by logging in to the Maisa Portal. Through the “Upcoming Tests and Procedures” link on the menu, you can access the page containing your upcoming examinations and procedures.
