Cardiac Unit, Peijas Hospital

At the Cardiac Unit in Peijas Hospital, we perform examinations and procedures on weekdays.

Our unit has one procedure room.

The most common procedures are

coronary artery angiography
coronary balloon angioplasty
cardiac pacemaker implantation

If required, we perform echocardiography on patients staying on the inpatient ward or being admitted for examinations. A significant part of our patients are treated as outpatients. Our unit works in cooperation with Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease Ward S3 and the adjacent monitoring wards.

We perform both planned and urgent procedures. Peijas Cardiac Unit is open during office hours. Emergency services outside office hours are available in the Meilahti Cardiac Unit.

We kindly ask that patients arrive to the cardiac unit with an escort only if it is necessary.

Patients’ escorts cannot stay in our unit before or during the procedure.

We train future health care professionals in our unit. We hope that you will allow students to participate in your care. Consenting or refusing student participation will not affect your care.
