Emergency Department, Women's Hospital
Keywords:In the Emergency Department of the Women's Hospital, we treat women who are pregnant, have just given birth or have a gynecological problem and are in need of urgent care.
We treat, for example, acute and profuse cases of gynecological bleeding and pain, infections of the reproductive organs and acute problems related to pregnancy. If you are a gynecological patient, as a rule, you need a physician’s referral to access treatment.
In the Emergency Department, we only handle urgent matters that cannot wait. Please call the telephone number for the assessment of the need for treatment prior to your arrival. If you’re calling about an appointment, please contact the outpatient clinic responsible for your care during office hours. If you are coming in to give birth, please call the childbirth helpline, tel. 09 471 71500.
Estimated duration of an emergency department visit
At the emergency department, we always assess the need and urgency of treatment first.
If your treatment need is assessed to be urgent, you will get to see a doctor or a midwife.
Patients are treated in the order of urgency, not in the order of arrival.
Because of this, a patient who has arrived after you may be admitted for treatment before you.
The waiting times at the emergency department depend on the number of patients at the emergency department, as well as the number of patients elsewhere in the hospital.
This is why waiting times may be long.
Please follow the instructions you received over the phone on arrival time.
We aim to stagger the arrival of patients to avoid unnecessary waiting.
