Pharmacogenetics
Keywords:Pharmacogenetics studies the effect of individual differences in genetic factors on drug response.

The determination of the gene variants that affect pharmacotherapy can be used to help select pharmacotherapy, reduce the risk of adverse reactions to pharmacotherapy, and improve the effectiveness of treatments.
The Guide on Pharmacogenetics provides more information on the effect of the genome on the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy. The pharmacogenetics guidelines contain drug-specific dose recommendations and they are intended to assist those prescribing drugs in interpreting the results of the B-PGX-D Pharmacogenetic Panel genetic test conducted by HUS Diagnostic Center.
The third version of the Guide on Pharmacogenetics was published on April 7, 2025 (the first version was published on January 13, 2022, and the second version on November 13, 2023). The recommendations in the Guide on Pharmacogenetics have been supplemented to align with updated international treatment guidelines and product summaries. At the same time, the naming of genetic variants in the VKORC1 sub-study has been updated.
The Guide on Pharmacogenetics will be updated April 7th, 2025 (in Finnish)

Pharmaceutical consultation services for healthcare professionals
The clinical pharmacology units respond to drug consultation queries from healthcare professionals, concerning either an individual patient and matters related to their medication (such as pharmacogenetics) or perhaps a broader set of issues.
The consultation service is not intended directly for patients, and the units do not have any appointment activities of their own.
The consultation services in Helsinki and Turku also respond to consultations from other parts of Finland.
