Centralized application service for internship and practical training in medicine

The centralized application service is for people applying for internship and practical training positions in medicine. This site provides information on unpaid training positions where the instruction language is English. Please use the Finnish application to apply for paid internship. The internship advertisement states the required proficiency in Finnish.
Centralized application service
The HUS centralized application service handles all internship and practical training applications. We receive a lot of applications at HUS, and the treatment units do not have the resources to handle them. We want to make the application process clear and make sure the same principles are applied to everyone. This ensures that all applicants are treated equally.
You can use the English application to apply for unpaid internship.
Submit your application through the Recright portal.
We do not process applications submitted via email.
Inform us immediately if your situation changes
It is extremely important that you let us know if your situation or needs change after submitting your application, for example, if you receive an internship somewhere else.
We only accept applications for internships starting before March 2026
We will transition to a new application system in fall 2025, and we accept applications through the current system only for internships that take place before March 2026. Please check our website in late 2025 to see when we will open applications for internships after March 2026.
The application will be processed quickly if all the necessary information and attachments are included. Incomplete information will slow down the process and getting a position. Please answer the questions on the application form carefully and include the required attachments and a CV that clearly describes your previous work experience. It is important to include your position and duties when describing your work experience.
We prioritize arranging paid training periods with employment contracts. Then, we arrange unpaid internships. The number of available positions depends on the available resources for instruction in each unit. The number of positions varies, so we cannot provide regular information on availability. Email inquiries do not speed up the process. We will contact applicants when we can offer them a position. Generally, there are a lot more applicants than there are available positions.
Depending on the applicant's background (a medical student, a graduated physician), we take into consideration the applicant’s completed studies, previous experience, motivation, and career plans. The physicians in our units make the final decisions on internships and employment contracts.
