Changes to the laboratory appointment booking system
Keywords:The laboratory appointment booking system is introducing strong electronic identification for those booking an appointment through a user account. It will still be possible to book an appointment without identification and without a user account.

Update 5.6.2025: Strong electronic identification for those who act on behalf of someone else will be implemented on June 12, 2025.
In future, you can book a laboratory appointment online with or without strong electronic identification. The strong electronic identification is done via the Suomi.fi service and you can identify yourself using online banking credentials or a mobile certificate, for example. Strong electronic identification will be introduced on Thursday May 22, at 10:00 p.m. in preparation for future changes to the Client Data Act.
Booking an appointment without identification and without a user account will remain unchanged, so you can continue to book appointments without identification.
Old user accounts will be deactivated
Once strong electronic identification has been introduced, it will no longer be possible to log in to the appointment booking system with the old user accounts (email and password). When strong electronic identification is introduced, appointments made with the old user accounts will be linked to the user with strong electronic identification based on their personal identity code. This means that bookings made with old user accounts will also appear when signing in with strong electronic identification. Below are some frequently asked questions and answers concerning strong electronic identification.
With strong electronic identification, you can manage your booked appointments in the system. If you book an appointment without strong electronic identification, you will receive an email or an SMS with a reservation key which you can use to reschedule or cancel your appointment if necessary.
Book a laboratory appointment
We recommend booking a laboratory appointment. Most laboratory tests do not require fasting anymore, which means that you can have the tests taken in the afternoon. The unit that referred you for the laboratory tests will tell you if your tests require fasting and whether you can take your medicines normally before sample collection.
Book a laboratory appointment online at www.huslab.fi/booking or by calling the number (09) 471 86800 on weekdays 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

When we introduce strong electronic identification, the booked appointments of previously registered users will be linked to the strongly identified user based on their personal identity code.
