HUS client fees will be updated from the beginning of 2025 – what do the changes mean for patients?

This means that a visit to a specialist doctor will cost 66.70 euros in 2025, compared to 46 euros in 2024. Inpatient care fees will increase by an average of 22.5 percent, and the new daily care fee will be 66.90 euros, compared to 54.60 euros in 2024. Short-term inpatient psychiatric care will become chargeable, but outpatient psychiatric services will remain free of charge.
If a patient receives a guaranteed pension or has a district court debt restructuring decision, they may receive a discount on fixed fees. However, the discount is not granted if the patient does not attend the booked appointment and does not cancel it in time. Patients who do not have a municipality of residence in Finland and who pay for their own care are also not eligible for the discount.
No client fees are charged to organ and tissue donors.
