Update June 16, 2025: Strong electronic identification was introduced for those who are acting on behalf of someone else on June 16, 2025.

The laboratory appointment booking system introduced in May strong electronic identification for those booking an appointment for themselves through a user account. On Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10 p.m., strong electronic identification is introduced also for those who are acting on behalf of someone else.

You can act on behalf of someone else through strong electronic identification if you have been granted a mandate. You can also act on behalf of a child under the age of 12 if you are the child’s official guardian.

The strong electronic identification is done via the Suomi.fi service and you can identify yourself using online banking credentials or a mobile certificate, for example. Strong electronic identification is introduced in preparation for future changes to the Client Data Act.

It is also possible to book an appointment without identification

Booking an appointment without identification and without a user account will remain unchanged, so you can continue to book appointments for another person without identification.

Appointments booked without strong electronic identification will not be visible on an user account that uses strong electronic identification. That means that if you have booked an appointment without using strong electronic identification, and then use strong electronic identification later when signing in, your earlier booking without identification will not be visible in the system.

We recommend booking a laboratory appointment. Most laboratory tests do not require fasting anymore, which means that you can have the tests taken in the afternoon. The unit that referred you for the laboratory tests will tell you if your tests require fasting and whether you can take your medicines normally before sample collection.

Book a laboratory appointment online at www.huslab.fi/bookingor by calling the number (09) 471 86800 on weekdays 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
