New check-in devices make it easier for customers to use the laboratory

New check-in devices have been installed in several HUS laboratories. The new devices will check in customers with prebooked appointments as well as walk-in customers.

The new check-in devices will make it easier for customers to use the laboratory, as all customers will check in using the same device.

You can check in using a Kela card, driving licence or personal ID card, or by manually inputting your personal ID code.

Customers who have an appointment should also check in using the device.

“Currently, all customers take a queue number and wait to be called in to have their samples taken by number rather than their name, which improves data protection,” says Teija Kaukosalmi-Virtanen, Chief of Division.

Customers with an appointment are called in based on their appointment time, so the queue numbers are not called in order.

“It is important for customers to note that the queue numbers are personal and cannot be given to anyone else.”

You can check in using the new device up to two hours before your appointment.

Book a laboratory appointment

HUS laboratories mostly serve customers by appointment. Appointments help to manage busy periods and make it easier to deal with urgent and emergency patients.

“Appointments stay on schedule, and it’s also nicer for the customer to come to an appointment than to take a queue number and wait,” says Kaukosalmi-Virtanen.

Most laboratory tests no longer require fasting, so it is not necessary to arrive in the morning. There are often plenty of appointments available in the afternoons, too.

“Information about whether laboratory tests require the customer to fast and whether they can take their medicines as usual is available from the unit which referred the customer to the laboratory.”

The laboratory and laboratory customer service do not provide test results and do not transfer test results to MyKanta. Please contact the unit that is treating you to ask about laboratory test results.

You can book a laboratory appointment at www.huslab.fi/booking or by phone on 09 471 86800 on weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
