HUS year 2024: Personnel
In 2024, we had approximately 27,000 employees at HUS. Due to the economic adjustment challenges, we reduced the number of personnel and the use of hired labor towards the end of the year.
In the co-operation negotiations, we aimed to ensure that adjustment efforts would mainly target personnel that is not directly involved in patient care, taking into account equality. Recruitment was restricted only to necessary cases. However, staff availability remained at a good level throughout the year.
Supervisors and leadership
At HUS, leadership is based on management by coaching that is appreciative, interactive, inclusive, and inspiring. The goal is to create an active, developmental approach to work and excellent cooperation for the benefit of our customers.

Strategic HR planning
One of the focus areas for our strategy for 2023–2027 is the employee experience. Our goal is to be the most attractive workplace in Finland. Strategic HR planning provides data for supervisors. A lot of applications were received for vacancies in the beginning of the year.

Wellbeing at work
We defined the goals of wellbeing at work, occupational safety and management of wellbeing at work to better align with the objectives of the HUS Strategy. Promoting employee experience and employee wellbeing was reflected in all aspects of our efforts towards wellbeing at work.

Pay and rewards
In 2024, we allocated pay increase items especially by taking into account skills and responsibility, staff availability, and salary harmonization. We also carried out a review of performance-based salary elements and various allowances.
